Fight For Life Featured

About the Fight

One of the founding instructors of Idokan Australia and Bushido Instructors Association is "fighting for her life" against cancer.  Sensei Wendy Carroll is a well respected instructor in the martial art community.

Singularly we can achieve very little, but united we can make a difference.

Those that meet Wendy are always impressed with her enthusiasm for life.  Two years ago Wendy was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer with a 6cm tumour.  Wendy was told by her doctors that she should "put her affairs in order".  Refusing to be beaten Wendy had a mastectomy and underwent aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy.  To her doctors surprise she survived the ordeal.  Not only that but she reopened  her dojo in Warrandyte and went to an intensive two week Jujutsu seminar in Kyoto, Japan where she was examined for her 4th Dan Jujutsu by the Honbu members of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai.

However, now two years after her first diagnosis the cancer has come back, this time it is in her bones.  Once more the doctors have bowed their heads but Wendy refuses to concede. She is undergoing intensive treatment.

When a good friend is afflicted with such a terrible disease, you are left with a sense of helplessness.  Almost everyone on the planet has had someone they know/love affected by this terrible disease so we have decided to make a stand and help fight in this little-understood war, where over seven million people die every year and millions more live with the constant threat of death.

When a good friend is afflicted with such a terrible disease, you are left with a sense of helplessness. As martial artists we cannot fight this invisible foe but we can give the scientists and medicos the necessary tools to fight.  Singularly we can achieve very little, but united we can make a difference.  Never before have so many diverse martial art groups united together under the one roof.

This seminar has the full support of the Cancer Council and as such the accounts will be audited by an independent accounting firm.  All profits will be donated to the Cancer Council to help them continue with their good work.
