The moment class starts, your mind should be on trying to improve your own technique. Concentrate, don't talk unnecessarily, and practice hard! (Doing otherwise would be disrespectful to the instructor, as well as to yourself.)
- No running unless directed by your instructor.
- No consumption of food or drink on the mat
- No footwear or jewelry (except wedding bands) to be worn on the mat
- If you are injured by your partner or you injure your partner, seek the assistance of your instructor immediately
- If you are hurt by your partner, do not lose your temper. Exercise self control. Retaliation is unacceptable.
- Always practice care when training:
- Throws should be executed with control and support for your partner
- Locks and strangles should be applied slowly and with control.
- No excessive force.
- Permission must be sought for the use of any locking or strangulation techniques in randori (free practice) by students orange belt and below
- It is your responsibility to submit in order to prevent injury to yourself
- It is important to breakfall during throwing practice
- Always seek permission before using sutemis in randori
- When your instructor is about to demonstrate in the centre you must kneel and pay full attention. Do not talk or move about. You may rise when the instructor tells you to.
- If your uniform becomes excessively loose, stop activity and fix it. You and your partner must both drop to one knee on the edge of the mat facing the centre whilst you adjust your uniform.
